On forums and sites infrequently you can find detailed stories about how it is most convenient and quick to get to Macao, once the Portuguese colony, and now the Asian capital of the gambling business. There is an opinion that it is best to go to Macau by direct flight, but the geographical position allows you to consider other options. The editors of the Magazet decided to fill in the gaps and, within the framework of the ZEN ME BAN project, prepared an instruction on how to reach Macao by air, land and water.
In Macau – by air.
A direct flight should be chosen by those who do not plan to stop in the nearest cities to Macao – Hong Kong, Shenzhen or Zhuhai. The cost of the ticket depends on the season and the route, but on average the flight, for example, from Beijing will cost 1,500 yuan and will take 4 hours, from Shanghai – 800 yuan and 3 hours, and from Singapore, Taipei, Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok, you can fly to Macao for 2-4 hours, paying about 500 yuan.
Macau Airport is located on the island of Taipa, 9 km from the historic city center. You can get to the city by taxi in 15-20 minutes and 80-100MOP [1] or on the city bus (45 minutes and 4 MOP). From the largest hotels and casinos to the airport go free shuttles.

You can fly by helicopter Sky Shuttle from Shenzhen or Hong Kong. The helicopter pad in Macau is located on the roof of the Outer Harbor Ferry Terminal, where international ferries from Hong Kong and Shenzhen are also docked. There are 10 flights from Hong Kong to Macao and back, and six flights from Shenzhen to Macao and back. However, the pleasure is not cheap: a 15-minute flight from Hong Kong will cost 3900 yuan, and from Shenzhen – to 4,700 yuan.
On the ground – from Zhuhai.
The Macau SAR is bounded by Zhuhai from the north, so the easiest way to get to the city is through a land border crossing ( gongbei kou’an). From both sides of the junction there are bus stations from which you can go anywhere in the former colony or, for example, to Zhuhai Airport (1 hour en route, 25 Yuan, flights every 15 minutes). Prior to the border crossing on a direct bus can be reached from other cities of Guangdong, for example, from Shenzhen or Guangzhou.

If you are crossing the border from Zhuhai to Macau on foot, then first go through customs control from China [2], where you will need to fill out the immigration card (yellow), and print out the exit or go through border control with e -pass if you have one. Then you have to go down the corridor to the border post from Macau and get a receipt for entry into the territory of the UAR, it must be retained during the entire stay in Macau. Citizens of the Russian Federation can stay in the territory of Macao without a visa for up to 30 days.

Passing the pedestrian border is free (if you do not need a visa) and usually takes no more than half an hour, at peak hours and on holidays – up to an hour. Currently, the border crossing operates from 6:30 am to midnight. There are other land crossings, more popular with local residents than tourists. By road, you can travel through the Zhuhai-Macao border crossing and the new bridge, opened at the end of December this year, between Hong Kong, Zhuhai and Macao ( – – ).

From Shenzhen and Hong Kong – on the water.
Shakou Sea Station ( / Shenzhen Shekou Cruise Center) is located in the northwestern part of Shenzhen, 20 km from the city center. From the nearest metro station – Shekou ( ) – there are free shuttles. Ferry & # 8212; fast and cheap way to get from Shenzhen to Macao: 1 hour on the road and 200 yuan one way.
From the nearest Shaekou metro station ( ) there is a free bus to the sea station.
In addition to Shakou Sea Station, the ferry can also be reached from the Shenzhen International Airport. The road will also take 1 hour. The cost of an economy class ticket is about 200 yuan one way. The first class ticket (about 450 yuan) also includes a ground transfer to the hotel in Macau.

Two international seaports are open in Macau, where ferries arrive: one is located closer to the border with Zhuhai and to the historic center of the city ( / Outer Harbor Ferry Terminal), and the second – on the island of Taipa ( / Taipa Temporary Ferry Terminal), where it is more convenient to get to the casino (for example, Venetian Macao), as well as to the old fishing village and national parks.

Tickets for the ferry can be purchased directly at the ticket offices of the marina or ordered on the official website and through mobile applications Qunar and Ctrip. Further, as well as on the pedestrian border crossing, you need to go to the border control zone and leave the country, and then – to wait for your flight along with other passengers. The ferry ride, depending on the port of your arrival, will cost about 200 RMB and will take along with the registration, customs control on both sides and travel time of about 2-3 hours.

In Hong Kong, TurboJet ferries leave for Macau from the ferry terminal in Sheung Wan ( ) and from China Hong Kong City ( ) on Kowloon ( ). The flight schedule can be checked on the website. The journey takes 55 minutes, and the cost of tickets & # 8212; from 160 Hong Kong dollars (132 yuan).
Getting from mainland China or Hong Kong to Macao is easier than it seems. Employees of marine stations and ground crossing speak not only Chinese and Cantonese, but, as a rule, speak English. Ubiquitous signs and pleasant service make the way to the territory of the former Portuguese colony quick and understandable: it is difficult to get lost here.
If you are only set up to visit attractions and gambling establishments, Macau can use free buses that run between the largest casinos, including in the city center. All city buses have Wi-Fi.
