As girls in Afghanistan are taught wushu.
The club exists since 2015. It was opened by 20-year-old Sima Azimi (center).
Girls who study with Asimi, & ndash; from 14 to 20 years.
Azimi learned martial art in Iran, where her family was forced to leave as refugees.
She is not the first woman who owns wushu. The masters of this martial art were many Chinese nuns, and some emperors even hired female fighters as bodyguards.
Azimi says that she wants to achieve equality between men and women in Afghanistan and put an end to violence against women in the country.
Besides wushu, Azimi also teaches girls self-defense.
These skills are vital to her students. The so-called honor killings are widespread in Afghanistan: relatives can kill a family member for allegedly dishonoring their clan.
The most common victims of these murders are women. According to the report of the independent commission on human rights in Afghanistan, in 2015, at least 241 women were killed by the members of their own family.
Basically, they kill girls who dare to love or do not want to marry the groom, who was picked up by parents and senior family members.
Azimi admits that at first some students were afraid to attend school, but now she regularly has 20 girls.
